About Björn Wallsten

Björn Wallsten works with research- and innovation-funding as a Senior Research Officer at Formas. Focusing primarily on issues within the intersection of urban infrastructure, natural resource-use, and planning. Currently, Björn coordinates the transition pathway on Circular Urban Economies in the Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) and functions as Sweden’s national contact point for this partnership. His background is an “undisciplined” mix of civil engineering, history, and architecture, and he has a PhD in Environmental Technology & Management from Linköping University. Björn is particularly interested in transdisciplinary approaches that combine research, innovation, and the cultural and creative sectors.

Agencies in cooperation - Sweden in a European Partnership Program

Formas - a government research council for sustainable development, Vinnova - Sweden's innovation agency and the Swedish Energy Agency will engage in a panel discussion about the benefits of collaborating across agencies in the European Partnership Program Driving Urban Transitions (DUT). The panel will explore how such R&I instruments can be used to ensure innovative solutions towards a climate-neutral society reach the market and how this is preferably done in collaboration with academia, cities, companies, and various citizens’ initiatives.
